EMDR has become one of the most widely used and recognized treatments for PTSD. For more than 20 years, Micheal Tremblay MSW, RSW has been using this evidence-based treatment approach that is used to resolve symptoms related to many issues, including:
- all forms of trauma in childhood or adulthood
- motor vehicle accidents trauma
- anxiety and depression
- crime related trauma
- fears associated with anxiety
EMDR is a treatment modality created by Dr. Francine Shapiro who discovered it’s benefits for recovery from PTSD among Vietnam combat veterans and other trauma survivors. Extensive research indicates that EMDR can effectively resolve trauma at a much faster rate than traditional therapies. EMDR also is helpful with resolving ongoing triggers of anxiety and other symptomatic conditions.
Past, Present and Future
Our past experiences is what impacts our present view of the world. Unprocessed or improperly stored experiences therefore affect our reactions to everyday life stress.
In EMDR sessions, past events are reprocessed by the client resulting in a shift in their view of themselves and others. As a result, present feelings, thoughts and behaviors can meaningfully change.
